This auction is for a glazed tile of the Native American Storyteller by New Mexico artist, Lawrence Vargas, who is well known for his Southwest art including sculpture, prints and tiles. The storyteller is done in a multitude of bright colors, and decorated with children climbing upon her lap, her arms & even her hair; several Native American pots surround her at the base, as well as one perched atop her head. The tile measures 6" x 8", is signed & dated (1995) by Vargas under the glazed finish; and is in mint condition. On the back t is a piece of wood reinforcement with a peg stand (stand is still taped in its original opening); and a "postcard" with a photo of Vargas with his son, plus some information on his background and work. The tile is in mint condition, and would be a wonderful addition for the collector of Southwest art, and especially for the collector of "Storytellers". Also, a great gift idea. * * * * * * * * * * Please check out my other items - always happy to give shipping discounts on multiple purchases !
