Lawtons Connoisseur Collectible Grave Alice Doll Limited Edition 426/500 $395

This beautiful 14” doll was sculpted and designed by Wendy Lawton for her company Lawtons. The original price paid was $395 as can be seen on their website. She is beautiful with long black slightly curly hair and big bright brown eyes. Her dress is cream with a floral brocaid and lace, ribbons, and bows. She is all porcelain and marked on the back side of her neck. She has petticoats, lace stockings and leather ankle tie sandals. She comes with her original box, book, membership, wrist tag, and stand. The only issue that I see is one tiny spot on her dress. Remember that there is a maximum of 500 of these in the entire world. She is Absolutely Beautiful!

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's beloved poem begins:

Between the dark and daylight,

When the light is beginning to lower,

Comes a pause in the day's occupations,

That is known as the children's hour.

I hear in the chamber above me

The patter of little feet;

The sound of a door that is opened,

And voices soft and sweet.

From my study I see in the lamplight,

Descending the broad hall stair,

Grave Alice, and laughing Allegra,

And Edith with golden hair.

The poem continues with the ageless tale of Longfellow's own little daughters and their nightly romp with Papa.

Together the three daughters make a charming picture. Each sister comes with a limited edition of The Children's Hour illustrated by June Amos Grammer. This lovely little hardcover book marks Lawton's first entry into the world of publishing. The book is a 6" x 8 1/2" hardcover, sixteen page book with a front cover illustration, back cover illustration, frontispiece and twelve illustrations, all in full color. This first edition will be limited to 2000 copies.
