W. H. Lehew, Strasburg, Virginia Decorated Jar Ready to add to your collection is this wonderful 3 Gallon Decorated Jar made and stamped by W. H. Lehew & Co., Strasburg, VA. This is the mark of William H. Lehew who ran his pottery in Strasburg in the 1860's and 1870's. This beauty has a Clear Maker's Stamp and a Triple Cobalt Floral on Each Side! The flowers have 7 petals and many leaves all drawn in freehand cobalt brushstrokes. Nice Broad brim with a recessed groove at the top for fastening waxed paper or cloth over the top and tying it snuggly. Measures 13 1/4" tall. Excellent Condition. Just over a dozen chips on the outside of the rim (1/8" to 5/8") and a narrow 1/2" chip on one handle and a 1/2" ping line on the other. A faint 6" semi-circular line on the bottom that comes up 1" on the side and then left and right 3" (closeup at arrow). Only partially visible inside and too faint to photograph on the side.
