You are bidding on an exceptionally nice Leica 50mm f/2 Summicron-M standard lens. This is my personal lens and has been my near constant companion for the last 2 1/4 years, usually attached to my Leica M Monochrom or Leica M5 and occasionally my Leica M-E. This lens has been all over the world, and by every measure has been the best lens I've ever owned. Despite being well-used, it is essentially in perfect mint condition with the exception of a very tiny line where the paint has rubbed from the edge of the slide-out hood. This line is visible when looking down on the top of the lens as mounted to a camera, but is outside of the area where frontal light might reflect into front element. It is a purely cosmetic issue, and an extremely insignificant one at that, which I only mention in the interest of full disclosure.<P>This lens is optically and mechanically perfect as far as I can tell. This is a legendary lens, with the current optical design perfected by Dr. Walter Mandler in 1979 and is now the oldest lens in Leica's current catalog. The reason the optical formula has not been updated is that Mandler got it right, with extreme sharpness from corner to corner at any distance and aperture.
