ACOMA PUEBLO POTTERY WEDDING VASE AWARD WINNING ARTIST: LELAND ROBERT VALLO (PINON MESA) This impressive Acoma Pueblo wedding vase is signed by Native American artist Leland Robert Vallo, "Pinon Mesa." The vase measures approximately 7.5" tall x 5.75" width diameter at the widest point around. It measures 4.5" across the spouts and 2.25" at the base. This hand coiled vessel was created with clay from the grounds of the Acoma pueblo of New Mexico. The traditionally hand-formed piece features polychrome slip in an Anasazi-style Tularosa Swirl fineline motif of black on white slip. One side features a bear and the other a desert lizard. The piece is intricately hand painted with traditional designs and colors. This is an impressive piece without any chips or cracks.Leland Robert Vallo "Pinion Mesa" is an award winning artist born in 1969 at Acoma Pueblo of New Mexico. Leland is the son of Simon and Marie Vallo. He has been creating pottery since the 1990s and was inspired by many famous artists, such as Dorothy Torivio, to create pottery in the traditional way. He specializes in hand coiled and painted Tularosa Revival Swirl pottery with extremely detailed designs and Mimbres.
