Very Rare: LESLIE UGGAMS ON TV – Columbia CS-8506 – Original 6-eye This rare release from singer/actress Leslie Uggams was indeed her first, when she proved so very popular on the Mitch Miller Show. Of her singing, in fact, Mitch Miller said, “A singer like Leslie Uggams comes along once in a lifetime. I’m glad it happened during mine.” Note, too, Miss Uggams played all the rooms that usually stagger American singers. But, in her case, whether at the Copa or unforgiving LA haunts, she was known to never fail in getting a standing ovation from her audiences. , with the Mitch Miller Chorus in support, she sings OVER THE RAINBOW, BIRTH OF THE BLUES, APRIL SHOWERS, GET HAPPY, TROLLEY SONG, HE’S GOT THE WHOLE WORLD IN HIS HANDS, and DO NOTHING’ TILL YOU HEAR FROM ME, among others. Cover of this copy is crisp (despite its years), the back shows a little age in its yellowing. Inside, is the original 6-eye platter, which should play NM- to VG+.
