Here's another nessmuck, originally designed by George sears, a naturalist and writer, who felt that all a person need take to survive in the forest would be this,a hatchet, and a folding pocket knife. Nessmuck was his pen name, taken from a Narragansett indian childhood friend. It is made from.214" 5160 spring steel cut out to a particular shape, then thru a series of AT LEAST 5 heats the taper to the edge is formed. This changes the profile to what you see here, it is then finish ground and polished then normalized, oil hardened, and tempered to 600.F. The African bubinga scales are made on the blade, the hardware is hand inlet and they are polished and oiled.. Not to blow my own horn, but i do a pretty good job on these, this one is 9&1/2" overall and 5&7/16" from tip to wood. Check out my website , it could use some updating but there are good examples of my work there. I was surprised when this didnt sell the first time. I can remove the hook shaped guard if the buyer wants.
