We are happy to offer some wonderful items from a German collection of Sammlung Lehner who started in the early 1910's - we received from the seller some pictures, showing the man and parts of the collection, from 1925, 1944 (in a collection room that was bombarded by the allies in the WWII) and 1953. The collection included trophies, weapons, jewelry and sculpture and was mainly African with a few oceanic items. The collection was authenticated and expertized in France by Cabinet Daffos & Estournel in Paris. This one is a Large African knife / short sword from the Yaka tribe - Congo, Zaire, circa 1900. The hand-forged, double-edged, steel blade is sharpened on both sides, and decorated in hammered dot-pattern - the steel shows beautiful Texture and age patina. The Handle is very elaborate using various materials - wood, steel, copper wire and Leather wrapping the wood part - truly great craftsmanship. Excellent condition with some age ware, only adding to the item's beauty and look. It measures an Impressive 70.5 cm long - blade only is 50.5 x 4.8 cm wide at widest point.
