It is mostly transparent on the inside and is beautifully frosted on the outside Its color is clear off white, It has interesting markings and is dome shaped! See all photos! A one of a kind desert Gem !Weight 11.3 grams Over 2" long 1/25" thick"In nature, glass is formed when sand and/or rocks, are heated to high temperatures and then cooled rapidly. The intense heat and force of meteoritic impacts on the earth and atmospheric explosions, millions of years ago, created the natural Libyan Desert Glass (sometimes referred to as Egypt or Egyptian Desert Glass) is a rare and beautiful impact glass, found in only one remote location on Earth, near the Libyan/Egyptian border. It is associated with an ancient meteorite impact, which occurred somewhere in the North African deserts. Quality specimens are translucent, and also display pseudo regmaglypts, possibly caused by wind erosion, or by ablation when molten fragments were thrown into the air following impact.
