This is an original print, not a reproduction. All limited edition etching/intaglio is produced individually on my own hand press.Each pressing produces a slightly different image, so all the prints are in effect originals. Intaglio process: Involves the use of a thin metal plate into which the design is incised in a number of ways, like Dry Point , Berceau (Mezzotint) etc. The inked plate with the uncut areas wiped clean, is placed in a roller press operated under considerable pressure to force the paper into the incisions to take up the ink. It is this pressure that leaves the plate mark on the paper. Etching (Radierung, Gravure): is a variety of Intaglio printmaking in which the lines in a metal plate are bitten (etched = eaten) by acid. The polished surface of a plate is first covered with a thin layer of ground, composed of waxes, gums and resins.
