Converted Lima British Railways Class 117 These modified are the Lima models of the British Rail Derby built class 117 suburban unit, giving you both the DMS and the DMBS. As part of the modernisation of British railways these units were introduced through the 1950s and 1960s to replace steam locomotives on local services. The 117s have had an exceptional career and a handful of the class can still be found in use on in sandite trains as well as on preserved lines. This particular pair depict the class in the condition they were delivered: BR Green with speed whiskers. This was a relatively short lived livery with the introduction of Yellow "Warning Panels" later on in the 1960s but is ideal for those modelling the end of the steam and the beginning of diesels. The coaches have been modified and detailed. I have trialled these two and I can confirm that the original Lima pancake motor still works. As can be seen the two coaches have been modified, with a DMS being correctly modelled. Gangways have also been removed, as per the prototype. Unfortunately there is no interior to the newly added DMS section but that could be easily remedied by someone with a little spare time. The buffers on the DMBS need to be painted and the detail has been largely knocked off the front buffer beam. There is no original packaging . They will be sent read more
