Up for auction; Franklin Mint 1977 Limited Edition Chess Set "Tournament at Camelot" This 36 year old vintage chess set was the first Franklin Mint chess set issued. The pewter playing pieces are original works of art layered in 0.995 fine silver or pure 24 karat gold, created exclusively for this set. The chess cabinet is made of hand-finished walnut with two velvet-lined, fitted drawers to house and protect the chess pieces. The chess set weighs approximately 35 pounds and is 19 1/2 inches by 19 1/2 inches and 5 inches high. The board has an engraved brass nameplate (see pictures) which can be removed if desired. The solid and weighty chess pieces range between 2 1/2 inches to 4 inches tall. There is some compromise on the playing surface of the chess board from being 35 years old which includes a few spots as can be seen in the photo. The wood on the board is in good previously displayed condition with only a few scratches. The 32 hallmarked chess pieces are in overall excellent condition. However, this is a used chess and some attachments separated of the pieces. There is some tarnish and wear on a few of the silver pieces too. Please see the photos carefully and ask any question regarding chess pieces and their attachments. Will ship to USA. , and Canada only.
