The 4th volume in the Forty-second series of fine books made for the members of The Limited Editions Club is Our Town by Thornton Wikder with an introduction by Brooks Atkinson and a note by the author. Robert J. Lee's illustrations comprise four double-page paintings; one for the title spread and one for each of the three acts. He also drew three full-page monochromes and eighteen marginal sketches, which are printed in a rosy terra-cotta. The format was designed by Adrian Wilson, who chose for the text fourteen-point Van Dyck type with two points of leading between the lines, and larger sizes of Van Dyck for titles and running heads. The type was set under Wilson's direction by Mackenzie and Harris of San Francisco. The page size is 8-1/4 x 11-3/4 inches and there are 132 pages. The text and the line illustrations were printed in Connecticut by the Meriden Gravure Company. The reproduction of the paintings was a joint accomplishment of Rainbow Inc., of Hazardville, Connecticut, which made the plates, and the Holyoke Lithograph Company of Springfield, Massachusetts, which printed them. The paper is Arak, a cream-white antique-finish rag stock made specially for this edition at the Curtis mill in Newark, Delaware, to Adrian Wilson's specifications. The book is bound in tan corduroy, and the square shelfback bears an oval leather label
