FRENCH LIMOGE TRINKET/PILL BOX "Five Peas in a Pod " Green pea pod opens up to show five (5) peas in a row. This authentic Limoges trinket/pill box is made and hand painted in France. Made of fine porcelain it has an intricate bronze hinge with a detailed bee or wasp clasp. The backstamps is normally found at the base or inside the Limoges box. Limoges artisans use various styles in marking their Limoges creations. Some inscribe the Limoges by hand at the base or inside, where space allows. O thers, use a form stamp which is applied to the Limoges under the glaze. The designation " Limoges, France " on the backstamp is the guarantee of the origin of manufacture. The words " Peint Main " indicate that the Limoges box is painted by hand.
