Kernow Model Ships WARWICK CASTLE Union-Castle Line, seen passing the Needles at the start of a voyage to Cape Town in 1938. Passenger and cargo liner built by Harland & Wolff at Belfast and completed in 1931 for the Southampton - Cape Town mail service. Rebuilt 1938 with new diesels for increased speed and now only one funnel, as shown by the model. 20,107 grt with accommodation for 260 1st, 243 2nd and 254 3rd Class passengers, cargo capacity 435,000 cu. ft. plus 207,000 cu. ft. refrigerated. Converted to a troopship in 1939. Torpedoed and sunk north of Gibraltar in November 1942, after taking part in the North African landings. 1:1250 scale resin model made in Germany by Georg Grzybowski ( No. G 23B). It is 6.3in (16.2cm) long, well detailed and in very good condition. This range of models is long out of production. (The lighthouse is not included in the auction!) Models are carefully packed in strong boxes to prevent movement or damage during transit, a dditional models sent in the same package get a postage discount.
