This Lionel 1042, 75watt transformer was part of my late brother’s first layout. I believe Lionel offered it for 2 years, 1947 and 1948, and there is evidence this one dates from 1947. In any event it still works, including the whistle control. If you look closely at the photos you will notice that cosmetically it is in less than new condition, but everything works as it should. Simple math indicates that it is over 70 years old, and to the best of my knowledge it is all original, including the cord set. The original box and operating instructions are included. As our layout grew Santa saw the need for a larger transformer. As we approached our teen years this transformer was used to power as many accessories as possible, so for most of its life the whistle, speed control and reverse button were not used.
