Lionel 1955 Passenger Car Set with ALL Boxes, #2328 Burlington GP7, #2432 Clifton Vista Dome Car , #2434 Newark Pullman Car, and #2436 Summit Observation Car. This set has the silver and red theme in the Burlington Diesel and in each of the passenger cars ... anyone familiar with Lionel silver / aluminum paint schemes from the mid 1950s, knows the paint usually becomes dull and mottled from 65 years of age and exposure. This engine is an exception, while the 3 passenger cars are also outstanding. Engine and cars operate as intended and designed by Lionel in '55.My price is currently $10 more that when I purchased this set at auction 11 years ago. Last reduction before I gift it to my grandkids!Now, about the box number "505". Paul Ambrose in"Catalogued Sets- Vol.III, Greenberg", noted that this set with the passenger cars should be set #508 (or 1534W), not the 505 (1531W) number on the Set Box. I purchased this from the son of the deceased original owner at an estate sale in Carlisle, Pa. in 2010; hence the initial owner had the Set Box for 55 years with the number "505" near the bottom of the "1955 - LT" label. This is how the Set Box and Valued Contents left the local Carlisle dealer in 1955... the box number never changed and the 2328 Geep plus 3 silver with red letter passenger cars were always inside.
