This is a Lionel 1957 UP Alco A Unit. The shell is in really nice shape and should clean up nice. Its not cracked around mounting screw hole or on the front. Has some scrapes here and there, but if it crashes you wont be out a fortune for a postwar Lionel. Not sure how / if it runs, but see no reason why it shouldn't.
