Up for auction today is a Lionel turbine style 6-8-6 locomotive and its #2020W tender. It has the "atomic engine" with three posistion E unit controlled through the cab by a plug and socket arrangement. It has a single side rod on either side connected to the nickel rimmed driving wheels and it has a wire handrail the length of the boiler with the locomotive number rubber stamped underneath the cab windows.The engine runs great and changes direction smoothly. It has a die cast smoke chamber mounted at the front of the chassis and a special bulb that has a flattened surface on one side to form a reservoir to hold the smoke material. This bulb doubles as the headlamp and transmits its light through a lucite prism out of the decorative headlight at the top of the boiler front.The locomotive has its original whistling tender. The whistle works great and gives off a nice railroad tone. The paint is original with only minor paint rubs. Both the engine and tender are complete with all steps, rods and handrails.
