LIONEL #232 NEW HAVEN ALCO DIESEL A UNIT Offered at auction is an uncommon Lionel #232 New Haven Alco A Unit which was only produced in 1962, and it is given a rarity rating of "3" in the TM Guide. This hard to find Alco engine is in VERY GOOD condition, and exceptionally clean, with some scratches, nicks and paint loss, but with no cracks, no dents, no rust and no warpage. The bright orange paint is very nice and the painted black side-stripes and the black and white heat-stamped New Haven lettering and the numbering are clear, clean and complete. The sides of the frame are rust-free, which is very unusual for a 200-series Lionel Alco Engine, and the bottom of the frame is likewise rust-free, which is also very unusual. And, t is no screwhole crack at the back of the cab. This New Haven Alco was produced with a closed front pilot and with a two-position e-unit. If it wasn't for the scratches and the paint loss around the numbers 232 on the left front side of the engine cab, this engine could very easily be considered to be in excellent condition. This unusual New Haven Alco is certainly one of the more uncommon of the postwar Lionel Alco engines, and it is becoming increasingly harder to find in an exceptionally clean, undamaged condition. This very nice New Haven Alco would be a very welcome addition to any collection or operating read more
