This is a Lionel 2331 Virginian FM Trainmaster Powered Diesel Locomotive from 1955-58. The 2331 Virginian FM Trainmaster is a realistic and scale-like replica of the real life Trainmaster. Lionel‘s version of this locomotive has a well-deserved reputation for being a top-of-the-line diesel with excellent durability and strength. The 2331 was the second FM Trainmaster introduced by Lionel in the postwar era -- the first being the 2321 Lackawanna from 1954. A common problem with Lionel‘s Trainmaster are the screwholes on each end of the shell. In most cases, hairline cracks are in the shell running from the bottom of the screwhole to the bottom of the shell. Locating a shell without these hairline cracks is rare. Features include a motor, a reverse unit, an operating headlight, an operating horn, die-cast metal trucks, die-cast metal operating knuckle couplers,and metal wheels. This is the blue and yellow version. It has very slight signs of corrosion in the battery area. T are no screwhole cracks but the cab is cracked on one lower step corner. Completely operable, this piece shows signs of use, with a few scratches and nicks on the body. T is a slight amount of rust on the frame. The lettering is complete. Overall condition is Very Good-plus. This item was inspected by both our in-house Lionel Postwar experts and by our Authorized Lionel Service Station and we guarantee this item is completely functional and operable. Please see the inspection card for details. The original box and liner are included, but the box is dry and has some writing on it. Overall condition is Very Good+.
