Based on a standard AAR design, Lionel 50’ Double-door boxcars are accurate, finely-detailed models of a type of freight car widely produced in the late steam and early diesel era. On the railroads, the extra length and added side door were especially useful for automobile and furniture loads. In addition, many railroads chose to use a version of the 50’ double-door boxcar that also featured swinging doors at one end of the car to make automobile loading and unloading even easier. For 2007, Lionel offers an assortment of scale AAR Double-door boxcars with the unique end doors that swing open. Each car is an accurate prototype of the original in decoration and detail, and feature a wide variety of separately applied metal details on the body and underframe. This car features die-cast metal sprung trucks, die-cast metal operating knuckle couplers, metal wheels and axles. This piece is in great shape, with just a couple very minor nicks and minimal signs of handling. Not quite Like New. The original box is included. Overall condition is Excellent +.
