For your bidding consideration from my personal collection, is Lionel item# 6-28683 Baltimore and Ohio 2-8-2 MIKADO steamer and tender. Not easy to find these days! I purchased this brand new and have been the only owner. This is 1 of the nicest Lionel steamers ever made, in my opinion, it rivals and surpasses any Postwar steamer they made in build quality, running and operating quality. Here are some of the features: Heavy die-cast loco frame, body, and tender shell. Green marker jewels, cast side-rods and complete driving linkage, nickel rims, detailed moving bell, cab interior with engineer fireman figures, die-cast lead and traing trucks, die-cast tender trucks and rear coupler. Both Loco and tender have separate metal handrailings and rear ladder on tender. The motor is a large flywheel equipped can motor, not the dinky one used in the berkshires(which I have also owned), I have seen the motor, it is the exact same motor with the same part number on it that is also used in MTH locomotives. The set is Conventional operation, noTMCC, I am not sure if it is upgradeable, but the sound system in the tender has the sound quality matching of any of the Railsounds locos I own, and is superior sound quality to any of my many MTH proto 1 or 2 locos that I own. Has outstanding volume and bass level, volume control is the nice metal type on the bottom of the tender(vs the newer cheap tiny plastic ones used now)with crew talk and arrival, departure messages, transformer controlled. Plus real recorded whistle and bell. Tender has the large 'fat boy' type speaker. Has a place where you can add a 9V battery to keep the sounds going when stopping and reversing if you want, but not required. If you are looking for a quality reliable smooth running loco that will not blow out the sound boards with the first minor derailment like some other brands I own, this is the loco for you! I have ran it @ 1-2 hours and it runs as smoothly as a speed controlled loco but without all the fancy electronics to go bad. Has nicely operating puffing smoke unit with on/off switch inside the loco cab.Set comes with the original box, all packing, instruction manual, smoke fluid bottle and extra traction tires still sealed in the bag. Also included the factory shipping carton.You will not be disappointed with this engine, it has exceeded all of my expectations, the only reason I am selling it is I need to clear some space in my train room. Just a note about this locomotive so there is no chance of any confusion, this is the Lionel mikado Jr. as they call it(the close-up photo I have of the shipper carton shows this is the Mikado, Jr), it is the semi-scale or traditional sized locomotive, so it is smaller than the full scale versions, but I also have a full scale Mikado in my collection, and this is not very much smaller in comparison, and the nice thing about it is that Lionel got the proportions dead on, so the loco and tender look right together, properly sized for each other (if any of you have or ever saw the early MTH Railking Big Boy steamer, you will know what I mean about proper proportion! The MTH Big Boy tender was so short in comparison to the loco that it looked like it was rear ended by another big boy at 70 MPH! Years later, of course, MTH remade a totally new tender for these to make them not look so bad) especially if you factor in the price difference between the full scale version retailing at $900 vs this version retailing at around $300!
