WELL LISTED AMERICAN ARTIST, CHARLES PAUL GRUPPE (1860-1940) 4 ORIGINAL DRAWINGSYou are bidding on set of 4 original impressionist pencil drawings on paper of sailboats by well listed American artist: Charles Paul Gruppe (1860-1940) in OK condition, one of them is in a good condition but the others have some minor condition issues. There are in original wooden frames under glass. There is writing on one of them "By my father in low Charles R. Gruppe. Dimensions: The smaller frame is 9" x 11-1/4" and the drawing is 3-1/2 x 6. The second one frame is 10" x 12-1/2" and the drawing is 4-1/4' x 7". The third and fourth frames are 10-14/2" x 13-12 and the drawings are; 5" x 7-3/4". Charles Paul Gruppé (3 September 1860, Picton, Ontario - 30 September 1940, New York City)[ was an American painter. Between 1897 and 1913, Gruppé lived in the Netherlands, where he painted with the Hague School of art and acted as a dealer for Dutch painters in the US. He, his wife Helen and their children returned permanently to America in 1913 ahead ofWorld War I. All their children became artists including Emile Albert Gruppé (1896-1978) P. Gruppe died in Rockport, Massachusetts, on September 30, 1940 at his studio. He was 80 and had been painting in Rockport for 15 years, along with wintering in his New York studio.
