This is a 1 liter stoneware stein made in Germany by S.P. Gerz in 1975. This is part of the Gerz Limitat collection of reproduction Westerwald steins, this one being 1750. 8.5" to the top of the pewter thumb-lift, which is firmly attached to the handle through a 5 ring hinge. Description is from the Beer Stein Library.This stein was reproduced from a Westerwald original made in the 1st quarter of the 18th century, and makes an impression by the sheer simplicity of its scale-like relief work. It has relief border bands with geometric patterns typical of the period.This is the 2nd stein in the series and a little harder to get. Unfortunately the handle had broken off and reattached.
