One of Louis Wain's reknowned cats. Louis Wain; 1860-1939, English;Wain created hundreds of illustrations featuring cats. He produced designs for over 600 postcards. His father died when Louis was 20, leaving him to be the sole supporter of his family. It is believed that he suffered from schizophrenia. A hand finished woodblock/letterpress print which is bright and unfaded in black ink, the image size measuring approximately 18 cms. x 12 cms. ( 7� x 5 ins) on a grey paper sheet. Signed in the image purchased within a folio of Wain prints bought at local auction. This print is not a modern reproduction and is blank on the reverse.
