This auction is for an inked piece of original artwork from a 1955 Little Lulu Coloring Book. It features LITTLE LULU and TUBBY in a Log Roll Competition!! .. Art is by IRVING TRIPP who did almost ALL of the interior art for the Lulu comic books in the 1950's...JOHN STANLEY drew the covers and wrote the stories and provided the gags of which this is one... A JOHN STANLEY/IRV TRIPP COLLABORATION!!!!.....over 50 years old piece of art!!...this is VERY RARE!!!!. QUICK NOTE: Western Publishing Company (Whitman) had a virtual lock on any 'Authorized' cartoon, comic, movie or TV character being published in coloring book, activity book or books in general, form that extended from the 40's through the 60's. any purchaser of such books were extremely fortunate because the artists used for these endeavors were top-flight animators, background artists or comic illustrators par Supreme.
