On numerous levels, the saddle cloth featured in this auction is extremely rare and important for hobbyists of the sport. First and foremost, saddle cloths from the Grade 1 Donn Handicap just don't exist anymore. The reason is clear: Despite the historical and elevated status of the Donn, it's been years since Gulfstream Park has embroidered the names of the race and horses on the race worn cloths. That alone makes this cloth a unique acquisition. But when you factor in Fox's sponsorship which has also been discontinued, the prominence of the horse itself, and the field for the 1999 edition, this is truly a special and fortunate find for one winning bidder.
