You are bidding on the book The Lives of Celebrated American Indians, by the Author of Peter Parley's Tales , published by Rand and Mann (Boston) in 1849. 1st edition, 12mo, 315 p., 2 pages ads at rear. First edition of this scarce look at famous American Indians, including Pontiac, Cauploican, Pocahantas, etc. Illustrated throughout with full page B&W illustrations. This is an ex library copy, with two small stamps on rear endpaper, library sticker on spine, cloth chipped at head and heel of spine, library plats on fpep and inscription on fep. In addition, pages 51/52 73/74 have horizontal tears, (2" in length) though there is no loss of text. Light staining throughout, but a VG copy overall of a scarce volume, aimed at children.
