Lladro Gres woman sitting on a rock and doing needle point.. It comes from the estate of a friend's mother. Her mom went to Spain in the mid 70's and bought this figurine at the original factory in Valencia, Spain. The blue stamp at the base without the accent on the O was used from 1971 to 1974. I did some research and saw the same woman listed as 1978-1985??(so it was retired in 85?). LLadro blue stamp from 1974 to 1977 has an accent on the O and trademark sign.So this woman is from early 70'It is 18"1/2 high by 11'1/2 plus the wooden base covered with velvet(see picture). She has such a peaceful look on her face while busy with her delicate fingers doing some needlepoint.Beautiful details in the petty coat and her stockings. She is obviously wearing a Valencian costume. Also on the base t are some numbers engraved R 1 o V 56 and a c at the top of the base. From the memories of my friend this Lladro was the pride and joy of her mother and was to never be handled..It obviously has been taken great care of, It has No damages,No cracks, No repairs. The material of Gres is similar to pottery or stoneware, but it is porcelain.Gres porcelain has a terra-toned pigment in the porcelain itself and is usually left unglazed on exposed skin surfaces while enamel paint is used to define clothing and non-skin elements. The painting has a mottled appearance read more
