This lamp was purchased near Snettisham Station in Norfolk c1979 and I was informed that it had been purchased as the level crossing gates were removed from that station. It was also stated that the 1962 film 'John Betjeman Goes By Train' in part filmed at that station shows this lamp behind him*. There has been no attempt to restore or convert the lamp and it retains it's mounting bracket c/w one bolt. Photos are attached showing the general condition and the line, model, and manufacturing information cast into the lamp which may have been in situ from the opening of the line in 1862 until its closure in 1969. Collection only unless buyer arranges courier. * John Betjeman Goes By Train is a 1962 short documentary film made by British Transport Films and BBC East Anglia . The 10 minute long film features future poet laureate John Betjeman as he takes a memorable journey by train from King's Lynn railway station to Hunstanton railway station in Norfolk , pointing out various sights and stopping off at Wolferton station on the Sandringham Estate and Snettisham station , where he extolls the virtues of rural branchline stations. An early example of a Betjeman travelogue film, a similar idea was later used for his 1973 documentary Metro-land .
