This is an original and rare whale blubbering dragger hook that came out of a Massachusetts whaling collection and is blacksmith made from an 8 sided iron bar coming to a sharp high arch point and original wooden handle. It measures just under 30 inches long and is used to drag whale pieces around the boat deck. Signed McLean. Excellent condition. Eight sided iron bar has been flattened and tanged to enter the handle. Fixed with an iron washer. This is definitely early 1800's based on the iron bar stock and construction. Hook is 30 inches long and 5 inches across at the handle. This hook saw moderate use and is an early 1800's whaling tool. This is from acollection that I acquired in New Bedford Massachusetts. Excellent condition and is a museum piece. Original wood handle. It is unknown when humans began hunting whales.
