Now out of business for decades, LOOK battled for decades with LIFE for the nation's attention, with issues heavy with photos covering international and domestic politics and social issues of the day . This 1956 issue includes a beautiful pictorial feature on a radiant Marilyn Monroe, plus international coverage of the Arab vs. Jew situation. Other articles covered Jimmy Stewart, Adlai Stevenson, Lawrence Welk and numerous other people and subjects items. Auto ads such as the one shown here for Studebaker still showed distinctive character . The advertisements reflected the times, and while many companies are still around, quite a few found in this issue are not.
