Rivendell Limited Edition Environment #194/300 + Exclusive Art Print Taken from the website: "Home to Elrond, Rivendell was founded in the year 1697 of the Second Age by the Elven Lord as a haven amid the growing darkness in the north of Middle-earth. Under the protection of Elrond's Ring of Power Vilya, Rivendell was a sanctuary and meeting place for the forces of light and persisted in secrecy and security until the War of the Ring and the fall of Sauron, the enemy. There dwelt the Lady Arwen, and king in exile, Aragorn, came and went as he pleased. Bilbo Baggins called Rivendell home in his declining years, and often it hosted secret war councils and discussions among the leaders of the free peoples. The heirlooms of Middle-earth were gathered there in Elrond's library: Narsil, the sword of Elendil that cut the Ring from Sauron's hand, and Aiglos, the spear of Gil-Galad, among others. Imladris, the Last Homely House - the Elven settlement was known by many names, though its paths were shrouded in secrecy and enchantment. Perched among waterfalls in a hidden valley in the foothills of the Misty Mountains, Elrond's home provided a safe haven for Thorin's company during the quest for Erebor and Frodo's party when they sought refuge from Sauron's wraiths. It was at Elrond's council in Rivendell that the Fellowship of the Ring was born and the quest to destroy the One began. Even beyond the end of the Third Age, when the Rings of Power were no more and Elrond had passed over the Sea, Rivendell remained, at least for a time, in the keeping of Elrond's sons Elladan and Elrohir. The Rivendell environment from Weta is based on the miniature featured in The Lord of the Rings and built by the same artists and craftsmen that work on our movies. The combined efforts of 14 people have resulted in a stunningly detailed environment that evokes the serenity and peace of the House of Elrond. 1,200 hours of creativity and attention to detail went into this piece. Every tree, every ornament, every brick was considered and produced to make up the whole." I am also including the exclusive art print that came with the numbered Rivendell. The website describes the print as: "In addition, the first 300 orders will receive an exclusive "The Road to Rivendell" colour art print (approx 20in x 15in) by Weta Concept Designer Daniel Falconer, part of the Workshop team that helped create The Lord of the Rings trilogy. We will keep you updated on the progress of this print in a series of articles on our site and in our newsletters. Daniel Falconer led the art direction of this Rivendell environment together with Senior Model Maker, David Tremont. The print will display, in a combination of photographs and illustrations in full colour, the road from conceptual design to finished collectible at Weta Workshop." This really is a wonderful piece, however, I feel it only fair to point out some production flaws that are on this piece. As I understand it, quite a few of the Rivendell's suffer from these flaws, or similar ones, however, the majority of sellers are not making people aware of them. I personally couldn't live with these flaws which is why I'm selling it on; it is up to you to decide whether you can accept them. However, and I can't stress this enough - I WILL NOT accept refunds because you received Rivendell and decided you didn't like it. I am making you aware of flaws on this piece prior to your buying it and as such I won't refund because you changed your mind. As the photos show, there are some building alignment issues. These are miniscule (we're talking millimetres); these alignment issues have in turn caused alignment issues with some of the pillars on the buildings. The other photo is of the gazebo, where the holes for the pillars haven't quite been filled in properly. Apart from these, Rivendell really is an exquisite piece.
