LOS CASTILLO, First Designs, Mexican Silver Pin. Amazing Piece, Fully Marked, ca. 1939-1940. LOS CASTILLO, the young Castillo brothers began their apprenticeship in the first workshop, which was set up in Spratlingâe(tm)s home in Taxco . The Castillos were part of Las Delicias continuously from 1931 to 1939, the year they left to form their own company. The original shop and taller were established on the Plazuela Bernal, which continues to be the main showroom for Los Castillo today. This beautiful pin was all hand crafted ca. 1939-1940. It is formed by two pieces, one of them which hung and has movement. It was made in solid silver and was decorated with chiseling. All of it has organic forms as stylized leafs and spirals. Itâe(tm)s a really fine work. It also has its original patina. The lower part has a circle in the middle of it, perhaps it was for placing a photo. Unfortunately it lost the crystal, but it can be easily replaced. The pin is in perfect working condition. It is a very interesting composition all hand made and one of the first pieces crafted by Los Castillo workshop, one you must have in your collection.
