Thank you for viewing this LOT of 9 charming Alabama Clay small clay pottery animal figures: Pig, Rabbit, Swan, Deer, Fox, Elephant, Racoon, Sheep, and Skunk. The racoon has a tiny chip missing from his ear, it's smooth and unnoticeable with the naked eye. Some of these unique pottery pieces have the date handwritten on the bottom, some have "Alabama Clay" handwritten on the bottom. The tallest piece (pig) is 3" tall and the widest is 4" (swan). The smaller figurines are 2" tall and up."Over 40 years ago U.S. Army medivac pilot Carl Stephens retired from service and moved to Wetumpka, Alabama. While fishing on the Coosa River, he discovered the iron-rich soil from these waters was the perfect medium for his wife to use in her pottery and ceramics art. Since then, these uniquely Alabama pieces became well known in the area and across the Southern US."I'm moving and downsizing so I'll be posting more of my collectibles. Stay tuned! Thanks again.
