I found these at the estate sale of an elderly couple who probably picked up these prints on a LONG ago trip to Santa Fe or Taos, New Mexico. Come to think of it, they also had lots of Native American baskets and similar items, so they must have been drawn to the culture. They never framed these prints, they just tucked them away in a drawer somewhere, where they stayed over the decades in pristine condition. I have found similar samples of Anna Barry's work selling in a range of $150 to $300 each. And these are in MINT condition.Anna Barry was born in 1907 and died in 2001. If you search for information about her on the Internet, you mostly find out about her through her husband, Ira Moskowitz, also an artist, noted for his paintings and drawings of Native Americans. Later in life he switched to Judaic themes. I can find few mentions of Anna Barry after the 1940s, although she lived until 2001. She is noted for a portrait she did of writer, Isaac Bashevis Singer. Her husband illustrated some of his books. Barry and Moskowitz died the same year. Although married in New York in 1938, they moved to New Mexico permanently in 1944. They lived there until 1955, according to the New Mexico Gallery which staged a special showing of Moskowitz' work just after his death.Serigraph #1 is titled: "Hopi Eagle Dance" in Barry's own hand, in pencil. read more
