Almost 200 years ago, several important English potters and the J&R Clews brothers, came to America to build factories, and furnish their china to the burgeoning population of colonists at a better value, than shipping across the Atlantic. These two plates, part of Clews' Hudson River scenes: "Fishkill" and "Baker's Falls", are listed in Camehl's book. It is suggested that the designs for these plates may have been provided to the Clews brothers by William Stevenson --- produced by Clews. Each is in pristine condition, without wear, chips, hairlines, cracks, etc. "Fishkill" is 10" in diameter. "Baker's Falls" is 9" in diameter. The legends are on the obverse in the underglaze. Beautiful, historic examples of this famous potter's art; an excellent addition to your collecion. I have set a reasonable reserve, with Free Shipping. My money-back guarantee , as always.
