Four Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs, Norton Family, Bennington, VT, second half 19th century, three two-gallon jugs with abstract slip-trailed designs, stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.," circa 1855; together with a two-gallon jug with slip-trailed floral spray, stamped "J. NORTON & CO. / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1860. Two-gallon jug with spotted leaf design has staining, a tiny spout chip, and a long, thin crack to underside. Two-gallon jug with bullseye-shaped floral motif has reglued handle. Two-gallon jug with spiraling spotted design has very large reverse-P-shaped crack in one side, a loss to spout, and staining. J. Norton & Co. jug with a thin crack on underside becoming a large Y-shaped crack on right side of jug's front as well as staining and a small spout chip. H (of tallest) 14 1/4".
