Lot of Four CDVs of Union Generals

Pricing & History
including Slocum, Birney, and William B. Franklin by Brady, and O.O. Howard by “Wenderoth & Taylor, Philadelphia.” Slocum, Birney, and Howard all commanded at Gettysburg while Franklin was a rising star until Burnside laid the Fredericksburg disaster at his feet. Slocum and Birney (who died of malaria in 1864) are held in high regard as superior if not overly distinguished general officers. General Howard is difficult to separate from his zealous personality but certainly demonstrated less aptitude on the battlefield, still the verdict remains mixed given the “unlucky” tag attached to the 11th Corps and the caliber of the opposition (Jackson). General William B. Franklin, hand picked by Burnside, was ruined by his mentor’s accusations in the aftermath of Fredericksburg and spent the rest of the war in the backwater. Condition: Cartes are G+ with minor wear.
