Quick Skylander Basics for Mom/Dad & Grandparents: First series Skylanders are from Spyro's Adventure and have bright green bottoms underneath the base of the characters, you can actually see the colored base rims in the photos. Second series Skylanders are called Skylanders Giants and they have orange base bottoms. Third series Skylanders are called Skylanders Swap Force and have blue base bottoms. Fourth series Skylanders are called Skylanders Trap Team and have red base bottoms. What works with what? You can always move forward with the characters meaning older skylanders will work on the newer Skylanders games, this means the newer the game the more options you have for characters. All series 1 Spyro's Adventure characters will work on all four Skylander games: Spyro's Adventure, Giants, Swap Force, & Trap Team. All series 2 Giants characters will work on Skylanders Giants, Swap Force, & Trap Team. All series 3 Swap Force characters will work on the Skylanders Swap Force and Trap Team.
