I buy vintage linens at local estate auctions and recently found some great items, including some lovely antique clothing.I am listing two lovely antique dresses for little girls. They both date to the Edwardian period and are absolutely beautiful! Here is the second one: it is made of fine cotton batiste or lawn, pure white with lots of lace, embroidery, and tucks. The dress has a plain neckline edged with a lace ruffle, and a high bodice that features white-on-white embroidery across the front. Just above underarm level, there is a wide band of unlined lace. Under this band the fabric is gathered and sewn into a slightly lowered waistband. The waist is marked with a wide band of lace all around. The skirt is also gathered and is extremely full, with a 5.5" wide band of rows of horizontal tucks and lace, ending in lace. There are long full sleeves that end with a cuff covered with white lace and ending in a lace ruffle. In the back, the bodice has the same embroidery and unlined lace as the front There is a long placket opening that closes with four small white buttons, but there is no button at the very top - it's not missing, there never was a button there. The buttonholes are hand made. The back has the same band marking the end of the bodice and the same ruffle. Please see the photos above to appreciate all the fine details. read more
