Miniature eight-day cornice and column mantle clocks are always in great demand...especially when in such fine condition! The label inside the case is well preserved (see photograph) and the lower door glass is original with an attractive old brushwork design. The clean brass movement has been recently serviced and runs and strikes the hours properly on a coil gong. Made around 1865, this is surely a collector's piece with professionally regilded columns---using real gold leaf--not the cheap radiator paint seen on so many antique clocks that were poorly "restored" by amateur basement mechanics! A truly fine clock that will look great on any mantle or clock shelf or book case.
