Here's a lovely vintage stoneware pottery cookie jar. This jar was manufactured by Ransburg Pottery Company in Indianapolis, Indiana in the mid-20th century. Colors of Ransburg Pottery very closely resemble the colors of vintage Fiestaware manufactured at about the same time. This large cookie jar is a wonderful shade of robin's egg/sky blue and is hand-decorated with multi-colored florals called "Asters" by Ransburg. The cookie jar stands about 10 3/4" tall from the bottom of the jar to the top of the finial on the lid. At its widest point, the diameter of this jar is about 9". The interior of the jar is glazed but is devoid of color. This vintage jar bears the maker's mark incised on the bottom of the jar. The logo is an artist's palette and the mark reads "Ransburg Genuine Hand Painted, Indianapolis, U.S.A." within the logo. This jar is in very good vintage condition. It appears to have been lovingly used. There are some small paint chips and areas of wear to the body of the jar and to the floral decoration. There are also several small paint chips to the edges of the cover. There are no pottery chips with the exception of a chip to the finial of the cover that was painted over and glazed in the original finishing process. This chip did not happen post-manufacture. I began collecting Ransburg Pottery in the 1970's as a go-along read more
