You are invited to bid on this lovely vintage travelling vanity set, dating to approximately the 1930s. The set consists of hair brush, comb, mirror, talcum powder bottle and pill or trinket pot, all in an attractive little case.The case is made of brown textured leather with chrome fittings. It has a neat little carrying handle at the top and a strap that goes over the top and clips closed at the front. The sides open out to reveal the contents, which are fastened in neatly with straps. The case is lined with tan coloured canvas, and this also covers the back of the mirror. The comb is made of black celluloid or early plastic. The hair brush is particularly attractive. It has a black painted wooden back and handle decorated with a colourful transfer print of a bright red vase filled with anemone flowers in blue, yellow and pink. The talcum powder bottle is made of clear glass and has twelve sides. The lid is chromed and has little holes in the top. The trinket or pill box is made of glass with a chrome lid. The case measures 9" long. It bears no maker's marks. It is in good condition with minor scuffing to the leather and minor oxidisation to the chrome fittings. The talc bottle is in good condition. The brush has been very lightly used but is in very good condition. There is a little rubbing to the canvas backing on the mirror. read more
