VIRTUAL BROADWAY is a painting containing key scenes and images from all of the productions mounted on Broadway during the 2002-2003 season. Working in acrylics on a 30 x 40 inch canvas, Fowler has created a series of impressionistic images within an urban landscape, resulting in a comprehensive portrait, not only of each Broadway production, but also of some of the most significant social and political events of the year, including the musicians' strike, and the war in Iraq. The street scene fantasia is a unique Broadway artifact; a work of art that creates a historical, as well as artistic, record of Broadway's legacy."VIRTUAL BROADWAY" is a first-of-its-kind depiction of an entire Broadway season. Each image has been selected with an eye to capturing a unique element by which each show can be identified. For example, the bat in the moon represents "Dance of the Vampires", while the image of the woman suspended from a sheet from the Empire State Building represents the mistress in "Nine". VIRTUAL BROADWAY" is a painting that contains scenes and images from all the productions mounted on Broadway during the 2002-2003 season, a total of 69 shows in all. Within the urban landscape, a series of impressionistic images create a comprehensive portrait not only of each of Broadway's productions (e.g., the bat in the moon representing "Dance of the Vampires"), but also of some of the most significant social and political events that occurred in the past year (e.g., the reference to the musicians' strike and the war in Iraq).This is a special limited edition of signed, numbered lithograph prints of "VIRTUAL BROADWAY" complete with a CEO numbered and signed by the artist as well as a map of the shows from the Broadway season.
