NeillIn a hardcover first edition in jacketDESCRIPTION :A first edition in first state jacket of the third in the series of the famous Oz books written by John R. Neill (successor to both L. Frank Baum after his death in 1919 and Ruth Plumly Thompson), published in 1942. With illustrations throughout and at endpapers in black & white, also by Mr. Neill. Volume bound in 16-page gatherings.In teal cloth variant with bright color Neill illustration pasted to cover; spine with Neill illustration, Z within O vignette, and titling in black. Dust jacket bears original $1.50 flap price, with the same color Neill illustration as on front cover on both front and back and with War Bonds statement to back flap.With prior owner's bookplate affixed to ownership page over his penciled name and with his faux lending library slip pasted to rear paste-down. Incidental soiling to textblock edges and occasionally to interior leaves. Bright jacket with numerous tape-repaired tears, other non-repaired small tears; is mostly intact and in removable archival mylar protector.
