*These helium balloons were certainly very beautiful and to think theywere in the air more than a hundred years before the Wright Brothers.*#1 Vincenzo Lunardi, Italian, flew his balloon with the English regaliaon May 13, 1785. With him he carried a cat, a dog and a caged pigeon. The cat got sick so he had to stop to let her off. It flew for 24 miles.Robert Burns mentions this flight in one of his poems. The balloon wasto make 5 flights altogether.*#2 von Luttgendorff, German, made his balloon flight on August 24, 1786.He flew alone.
