Pease was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1949 for his cartoon, Who Me? The cartoon depicted a robed judge, labelled “Court Order” scolding the United Mine Workers Union Leader John L. Lewis. Pease was 80 years old, making him the oldest person at that time to win the Pulitzer Prize.
