Lehigh Valley ALCO PA1 #601,Original Slide 1963 dated Kodachrome by (unknown) Processed by Kodak. Rating ✬✬✬✬ ✬ ✬ Rare shot of ALCO PA1-PA1 lash-up idling on service track outside old roundhouse, location not indicated, possibly Sayre Yard. LV acquired seven pairs of PA1's new. All were assigned to power LV name passenger trains. They were all rebuilt and regeared for freight duty when Amtrak assumed the Valley's passenger service. The LV PA's were all retired by 1968. #601 and others wer traded to parent PRR which traded them in to ALCO for new Century- series freight power Trainutz and bears (unfortunately) do not appear on slide. Vintage slides show minor scuffs, spotsconsistent with age, and generally benefit from careful cleaning.
